With over 300 museums and galleries to choose from, visitors to London are blessed with an incredible choice of attractions with amazing collections to visit and explore. Major museums such as the British Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum, Natural History Museum, and Science Museum are world-renowned attractions for good reason.

The British Museum is home to over eight million objects from all over the world with displays ranging from prehistoric to modern times. The Natural History Museum is home to some 80 million items and exhibits a vast range of specimens from various segments of natural history. Also nearby is the Science Museum, home to one of the world's most magnificent collections of science, industry, technology and medicine, and one of London's most hands-on and interactive museums. With over 145 galleries and over four million items to explore, The Victoria and Albert (The V & A) Museum is one of the most influential museums of decorative and applied arts in the world.

The Museum of London is the place to capture the essence of London life from the prehistoric to present day, with over 1.1 million objects on show, many rescued from archaeological digs or discovered during building works in The City. One of the great things about London's museums is that they cater to so many different interests. From exploring the worlds of fashion, architecture and graphics, to ancient and modern history, the military and naval history, transport and sport, there is literally something for everyone. In similar vein, whether you love the Old Masters or modern art, contemporary sculpture or Impressionist paintings, London has an art gallery to suit you.

There are of course some world-famous venues which are firm visitor favourites such Tate Britain, home to the greatest collection of British art from 1500 to the present day, and Tate Modern which pays homage to art from 1900 to the present day. The National Portrait Gallery is also among the leading lights, along with The National Gallery, the Barbican Art Gallery and the Royal Academy of Arts to name but a few. The greatest surprises however can often be found in London's smaller art galleries which are simply full of hidden treasures. Whether you are into fine art, sculpture, photography, contemporary works or arty events, you will find a variety of hidden gems in one of London's more intimate art spaces that will satisfy anybody's artistic interests.
