Tangmere
Discover one of the UK's top aviation museums, showcasing an incredible collection of historic aircraft and fascinating aviation memorabilia. The exhibits span from the First World War all the way to the Cold War, offering a journey through history.
The museum features remarkable aircraft, including the world-record-breaking Gloster Meteor F.4 Special, flown by Group Captain E.M. 'Teddy' Donaldson in 1946, and the Hawker Hunter Mk3, piloted in 1953 by the museum's late president, Neville Duke. You can also explore a replica of the first-ever Spitfire to take flight and the iconic Lysander, known for its daring missions transporting SOE agents from Tangmere into France during the Second World War. Then you could sit in an ejection seat and be strapped in, ready to take to the skies!
Families will enjoy the interactive displays and the chance to sit in real aircraft cockpits and fly simulators, including a Lightning jet from the Cold War for the grown-ups and a Battle of Britain simulator for the kids. Friendly volunteers are on hand to share incredible stories about the brave men and women who served their country-some who made the ultimate sacrifice and others who returned home to tell their tales. After exploring, relax and enjoy some light refreshments at the museum's delightful Cockpit Café and browse the great gifts in the shop. This museum truly has something for everyone in the family to enjoy.
