Metheringham Airfield Visitor Centre
Metheringham Airfield Visitor Centre is an accredited museum and registered charity (No. 119437), run entirely by volunteers and based in original wartime buildings on the former RAF Metheringham site. Through engaging displays and expert volunteers, visitors can discover the history of RAF Metheringham and the personnel of 106 Squadron, Bomber Command.
The original gymnasium, now known as Peter Scoley Hall, serves as a function space for events and hosts the evening lecture programme during the open season. The hangar is home to the WW2 C47-A Dakota, KG651, where visitors can step inside and experience its historic atmosphere.
Peter Scoley Hall also includes the small café, which offers light refreshments subject to volunteer availability, as well as a well-stocked gift shop. Supporters can become members or volunteers to help preserve this unique site for future generations. Nearby, visitors can also explore the remains of the runways and taxiways, along with the memorial to 106 Squadron.
More information is available at www.metheringhamairfield.co.uk. The centre opens seasonally from the last weekend in March to the last weekend in October, on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 10am to 4pm. It is closed on Bank Holidays. Group visits can be arranged in advance.
