The Fan Museum
Situated in the heart of historic Greenwich, The Fan Museum is a unique arts and heritage charity committed to activities that support the management of the restored Grade II* Listed Georgian period townhouses and the collections. With permanent displays downstairs and a changing exhibition upstairs, The Fan Museum is dedicated to furthering knowledge of all aspects of the art, craft and cultural heritage of fans, fan making, and its associated skills. By using its collections, specialist knowledge and heritage buildings, The Fan Museum aims to enlighten, entertain and inspire broad ranging audiences.
The Museum is also honored to have Her Majesty the Queen as its Patron. Since its opening to the public in 1991, the Museum has staged more than eighty fan-themed exhibitions covering a variety of fan-related topics. In more recent years, notable exhibitions have included 'Street Fans: A Unique Liaison between Street Art and Fan Making', 'Coronations and Celebrations', spanning centuries of history across the much-known royal legacies of Europe, and 'A Focus on Paris', a picture of Paris as a cultural hub of inventiveness and entrepreneurship. Groups who are interested in coming for a Guided Tour of the Museum can organise to do so for £10.00 per head, for a maximum of 24 guests. The orangery, a beautiful and intimate space built onto the back of the Museum, is also available for private hire, with weddings especially popular.
Please contact the office at info@thefanmuseum.org.uk or call on 02083051441 to express your particular interest, or with any further questions about the Museum itself. General entry tickets are charged at £5.00, with certain concessions also available. The Museum is open Tuesday-Saturday from 11:00am.
